The Plumbing Services industry plays an integral role in Australia’s economy. There are currently 50,000 people employed in the plumbing industry, which contributes over $13bn in revenue to the economy annually.
The industry is primarily made up of small-scale contracting firms, which service narrow geographic areas or niche markets. It is estimated that the industry has over 25,000 businesses, the vast majority of which (98%) employ fewer than 20 people. These businesses provide employment opportunities and services to local communities, and as such, should be protected.
